Introduction

In this section we shall keep the visitor regularly informed about specific site- or topic-related news.

Recent additions

The addition of more pictures to the side has been delayed due to the old time shortage problem. The revision of the other websites of the foundation has taken considerably more time than expected.

[3-6 August] Some introduction pages are currently being overhauled and improved. The sections "Dutch army strategy and armament in WWII", "Dutch army unit organisation" and "German strategy 10 May 1940" have been largely modified and improved.  Somehow that wasn't done in the large overhaul operation earlier this year.

[7 August] Also the introduction pages about Rearmament and On the eve of war have been improved.

[8 August] Bugs firxed in the links built-in in the Field of Honour section.

[11 October 2009] Revision of the section 11 May - Part III - Island of Dordrecht.

[14 October 2009] A new addition in the Introduction section describing an arms comparison between German and Dutch arms and weapon systems.

[9 November 2009] Revised page on the Allied and German aircraft losses, claims and confirmations.

[16 february 2010] A few spelling corrections were processed in the Zeeland section.

[10 June 2010] A new article on chemical warfare [1915-1942] in the Netherlands and the NEI has been added.

[17 June 2010] Recently the book 'May 1940 - the Battle of the Netherlands' [ISSN 1385-7827] was issued by Brill international publishers, intended to hit the English speaking markets. The book calls for a firm and extended review, which shall be given on this website. It has quite a history of controversy and disputes, partially relevant to the English edition too. The review shall be done and published on the Introduction page chapter by chapter, gradually growing into a full content review.

[8 July 2010] The book review is done and five of the total eleven chapters have been reviewed. Those five gave quite extensive reason for criticism, particularly chapters 8 and 10.

[14 july 2010] A few clerical errors corrected in some of the 10 May narratives.

Pictures and maps

We are still struggling a bit with the maps and larger pictures. We are looking for a useful format in which style, presentation and legibility are combined. We demand some more of your patience ...

Pictures and maps are gradually being added to the content, starting with the introduction pages (including the weapon section).

[2 November 2009] We have finally remanaged our gigantic photo database (including the galleries of our Dutch sites). Many of the comments have been improved. New pictures shall be uploaded soonest.

[16 december 2009] The subscript of some of the War-scene pictures has been modified / improved.
