Although the general perception amongst many was and still is that the German army was a highly modern, mobile and mechanised army, the truth was that about 80-90% of it was depending on feet, bike, motorbike or horse and cart to get to the designated points. Two years later, at the peak of German capacity, still only about 30% of the German army would have the luxury of having motorised transportation.
