HMS Statendam on fire - may 1940

The HMS Statendam caught fire during the battle for the Rotterdam bridges.

Germans had situated some machinegun positions on the moored ship, the second largest vessel of the Holland-America-Line. When the Dutch machinegunned these positions, some fires broke out. The ship would burn for days and become a complete loss.
