The Hoornwerk bastions at the bottom of the picture would be reinstated as defensive positions in 1939. Due to the angle [oblique] of the picture the height difference is hard to spot. It is however clear that the Hoornwerk was intersected by the main road to Wageningen [right] and the dike [left]. Also the sluice with bridge [crossing] is easily identified. The frontline was situated along the roads that lead to the left and right just west of the sluice. The stopline was situated west of the open area in the middle-top of the picture.
