The arrival of the first German tanks at Moerdijk - may 1940

The arrival of the first German tanks at Moerdijk at the early morning of May 13. Both tanks are of the type Pz.III with a 37 mm gun. Shortly after, they will engage light Dutch troops on the Island of Dordrecht.

Although the Dutch were forced to evacuate the south of the Island, the Germans would lose about 20 tanks in the process of that. That unforseen heavy loss shocked their commanders, which altered the strategy for the Rotterdam assault on the 14th.
