The retaking of Ypenburg - may 1940

The retaking of Ypenburg. On the extreme left [centre] the artillery that supported the counter-attack and that forced the break-out from the stand-off in which the assaulting Dutch companies had found themselves. The previously dense German machinegun fire was considerably decreased due to the artillery-fire, after which the Dutch could storm the German positions at the northern edge of the base. The reinforced farm complex [Johanna Hoeve] - that was overrun after the base had been recaptured - is shown by the moon-shaped red indicator in the centre of the map.
