The obsolete infantry gun 8-staal [staal=steel] - may 1940

Of these guns 108 pieces had been taken out of the arsenals and into active armament again. Needless to say that these almost antique guns did not meet the modern standards in May 1940.

The 84 mm Krupp gun had a maximum range of 5,000 meters and a fire-rate of 2 rounds a minute. It had no recoil-break and was unable to traverse on the spot. The guns were assigned to the units along the Maas- and Ysselline, in the Peel-Raamline and in Zeeland.
