Anti-tank line The Hague - may 1940

The map shows the main area in which the German airlanding around the Hague took place and where the events during the 10-14 May period took place in fighting the surviving German pockets. Key-points like the large cities, Katwijk, Wassenaar and Scheveningen are easily identified. The propellor icons show the location of the AFB's Valkenburg, Ockenburg (Loosduinen) and Ypenburg (Rijswijk).

When the German 9th Tank Division had successfully penetrated Fortress Holland, the Dutch General Headquarters hastily decided to form an improvised ant-tank line around The Hague and Leiden. The line would not be tested due to the capitulation of the Dutch forces soon after the Germans had crossed the Nieuwe Maas.
